Walking Football is one of the fastest growing activities for older people in Scotland and our facility offers you the opportunity to: • get fitter • lose a little weight • enjoy a feeling of well being • socialise and have a bit of a laugh with like minded folk • rediscover the joys of football ! The Sessions: We meet every monday at Barlia from 11am to 1pm. Participants are encouraged to arrive at 10.30am where we can warm up, have a friendly chat and select evenly balanced teams ready to start promptly at 11am. Registration: Please ensure you read and sign a registration form before your first session. Footwear & Clothing: We recommend wearing astro or rubber studs footwear and shin pads. We also suggest you bring drinking water and warm clothing in the colder months. Rules: Very similiar to 5 a side football except no running or jogging and minimum physical contact which includes no side or slide tackling. Full rules will be explained at your first session. All participants are most welcome to meet in the pavilion after the game for a bit of friendly chat and banter over a tea / coffee and something to eat. Anyone not able to physically participate in the game are most welcome to come along for the social side.

This fifty plus group, to Barlia they came. Reliving their days playing, the beautiful game. This special version only allows you to walk. And an after match sit down for tea and a talk. Having skill is good but that doesn't really matter. More important than that is to have some good patter. After the game, there's such a positive mood. And always an excellent variety of food. Yes there's a risk of reigniting long term injuries. Sore backs, hips and ankles and of course dodgy knees. But the benefits far outweigh, any of that. And the movement alone helps you shed excess fat. Some players say Monday is now the best day of all. It's marked every week in their diary, Walking Football. You can start playing at any age, it's never too late. Immediately you'll become, someone's team mate. Everybody is welcome, there's not any divide. Some even come along, just for the social side. Chatting about the week or the years that have passed. Remembering the days when you could even run fast. Sure regularly playing, will help your ball control. But bringing people together, that's our main goal. Kicking a ball again, was previously only a dream. Now we can all say, we're part of a team. Improving your health, even if you don't score. Physical and mental, this game helps you restore. So pull on your boots, you know it's a must. Join in at Castlemilk Community, Football Trust.
